Miguel Ângelo Rocha, Against the Wall. Towards the Rear, 2007-2008, Collection Mudam Luxembourg
History recorded the shock of Kandinsky when in 1896, he found himself in front of Monet's Meules series for the first time and, in fact, the founding event of abstraction. More than a century later, though the theoretical, and even political issues that accompanied the adventure of abstraction have disappeared, the fact remains that abstract art has never stopped evolving and expanding with a great liberty of tone. It is this character that the exhibition of the Collection of the Mudam, Les Détours de l'abstraction, proposes to place to the fore, being interested in the dissolution of the motif and the appearance of forms.
